Linguists and caucasiologists symposium, dedicated to the 100th Birth
anniversary of Academician Ketevan Lomtatidze
Ibero-Caucasian languages: structure, history, functioning
Dear colleagues,
We are honoured to invite you to the third international symposium of linguists and caucasiologists, which is dedicated to the 100th birth anniversary of an outstanding Georgian linguist, Academician Ketevan Lomtatidze.
The symposium will be held on October 27-28, 2011.
Themes of the symposium:
- Ketevan Lomtatidze and Abkhazian-Abazian languages.
- Problems in historical-comparative research and in the description of Ibero-Caucasian languages.
- General linguistic questions and the methodology of description of language systems and subsystems.
- Theory of an ergative construction.
- Aspects of normativeness of a literary language.
- Lexicology, lexicography, terminology.
- Sociolinguistic, linguo-cultural, ethno-linguistic and psycho-linguistic aspects of studying languages.
A round table:
- Perspectives of the development and the functioning of Caucasian languages.
The working languages of the symposium:
- Georgian
- Russian
- English
Georgian and Russian abstracts should be accompanied by their English version. The Georgian version of English and Russian abstracts will be prepared by the editorial office. The size of the abstracts of the symposium should not be more than 2 pages. (500 words)

The text editor – Microsoft Word; Georgian type-face– Acadnusx; English and Russian font – Times New Roman; format-A4 ; The font size – 11; In case of using symbols, please send the corresponding font. Pages should not be numbered. Examples should be written in Italic. Underline-Bold; the source indication - [Chikobava 1941, 23]
Deadline for submitting the abstracts: June 20, 2011.
Please, send your abstracts to symposium@ice.ge.
Time-limit:
- Plenary meeting report: 20 minutes.
- Sectional meeting report: 15 minutes.
- Discussion: 10 minutes.
The organizational committee should have notified the author about receiving the abstract in written form by July 20, 2011.
Various cultural events will be arranged for the participants of the symposium.
Visa support will be provided by the organizational committee.
The registration fee for preparing materials for the symposium:
Foreigners - 50 €.
Participants from CIS - 30€.
Georgian scientists -50 Gel.
